Netflix, iPlayer, Now TV, Disney Plus… we’re not exactly short of options when it comes to streaming services, but if you want to cancel your subscription and prevent Apple from automatically taking £4.99 out of your account, you have to cancel your Apple TV Plus subscription before your free trial is due to end. Here’s how to go about it. 

But first, there’s something important that you need to know. Unlike Disney Plus and Netflix, you can’t cancel your Apple TV Plus free trial in advance. Apple will end it as soon as you hit the cancel button, rather than bringing it to a close exactly seven days after your free trial started.

So if you’ve still got a couple of days left before your free trial is due to end, you might want to wait a bit longer before undertaking the cancellation process. Don’t leave it too long though, or else you’ll get charged!

How to cancel Apple TV Plus on your iPhone

In the App Store app, go to Account Profile > Subscriptions > Apple TV Plus.

The ‘Cancel Free Trial’ option will be highlighted in red. However, as mentioned above, your free trial will come to an end immediately.

How to cancel Apple TV Plus on your Mac

There’s a slightly different process for cancelling your Apple TV Plus free trial on a Mac. Take the following steps:

In the Apple TV app, go to Account > View My Account, and then scroll down to the Settings section. Here you’ll find the Manage Subscriptions option.

In the list of your subscriptions, find the entry for Apple TV Plus and hit the Edit button next to it.

Select the highlighted ‘Cancel Free Trial’ button.

Just to let you know that I’m still disappointed in what I have available and will not be continuing. I would never be able to recommend this service to anyone. Instead of bombarding me with stuff to buy, just present me with options that are available to me.

That is not true at all. All advertising strictly shows that the service is for Apple originals, and this is also shown on the webpage. Nowhere has it ever stated that the service entitles one to the full contents of the iTunes store. Furthermore, in order to subscribe you would need to go into the Apple TV channels section and select Apple TV Plus, and you can easily browse what the service has to offer before signing up.

Other services have licensed content on top of originals, however they still don’t offer access to a full marketplace, equivalent to iTunes, and cost even more than this service. The fact is you did not do your due diligence to see what this was beforehand and are now coming to complain based on that decision, which doesn’t hold any weight.

Just a week ago, we reported about a new jailbreak Unc0ver that would even work against the iOS 13.5. However, Apple was quick to address this matter. Now, they have released iOS 13.5.1 and other OS updates fixing the Unc0ver jailbreak vulnerability.

Apple iOS 13.5.1 Fixes Unc0ver Jailbreak Vulnerability

A week after the Unc0ver jailbreak surfaced online, Apple released iOS 13.5.1 addressing the vulnerability.

Wile Unc0ver boasted to successfully jailbreak all recent devices until iOS 13.5, it seems Apple has now halted its success.

Unc0ver jailbreak exploited a zero-day vulnerability in the operating system. Yet, with the recent update iOS 13.5.1 and iPadOS 13.5.1, Apple has clearly mentioned fixing the flaw. Describing the flaw CVE-2020-9859, Apple stated in its advisory,

 An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.
A memory consumption issue was addressed with improved memory handling.

This update is available for all iPhones after iPhone 6s, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch 7th generation.

Bug Also Fixed In macOS, tvOS And watchOS

Unc0ver jailbreak successfully worked to jailbreak Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV as well.

However, Apple has also fixed the flaw for all these devices too, as it released tvOS 13.4.6, watchOS 6.2.6, and macOS Catalina 10.15.5 Supplemental Update, Security Update 2020-003 High Sierra.

Unc0ver’s lead developer pwn20wnd has also confirmed about the fix. Thus he advises the users not to install the latest OS updates if they want to jailbreak their devices.

Unc0ver’s website already warns the users about such updates.

unc0ver Team strongly cautions against installing any iOS software update that breaks unc0ver as you can’t re-jail​break on versions of iOS that are not supported by unc0ver at that time.

Moreover, with these updates, Apple has merely addressed the jailbreak flaw. For all the devices, they have released no other security technical bug fixes.

For instance, right after the launch of iOS 13.5, people complained about the battery drainage. But the updates address no such bugs.

Hence, for users who are looking forward to updating their devices for better performance, this update isn’t worth it. Whereas, those who want to get rid of the jailbreak vulnerability may update their devices to the latest OS versions.

Requisitos:

• Ultima versión de iTunes en tu computador.
• Cable USB del Apple TV para conectar al computador.
• Control remoto del Apple TV (el de aluminio).
• Descargar la ultima versión de Seas0npass desde el enlace del paso 1.

Tutorial: Jailbreak Untethered al Apple TV 2 con firmware 5.3 (iOS 6.1.4 – 10B809)

Paso 1

Descarga y descomprime Seas0npass desde el siguiente enlace de acuerdo a tu sistema operativo:

Seas0nPass for Mac [10.6 o superior]

Seas0nPass for Windows [XP o superior]

Paso 2

Abre la aplicación Seas0npass con el botón derecho del mouse como administrador (Windows) o con el botón derecho en Abrir (Mac). Si te solicita tu clave de administrador (Mac), introduce la misma. Ahora que abriste la aplicación, presiona el botón Create IPSW para comenzar el proceso.

Paso 3

Se comenzara a descargar el ultimo software para tu Apple TV 2 si no lo tienes descargado en el computador, el cual se modificara luego con el Jailbreak. Debes esperar a que termine la descarga, el tiempo dependerá de la velocidad de tu internet.

Paso 4

Cuando te sea solicitado por el programa, conecta el Apple TV 2 al computador con el cable USB (con el cable de corriente DESCONECTADO). Si iTunes se abre automáticamente, cierralo. Cuando la luz que esta al frente del Apple TV comience a parpadear rápidamente, apunta el control remoto del Apple TV al dispositivo dejando presionado los botones MENU y PLAY/PAUSE simultáneamente por entre 7 y 10 segundos.

Nota: Los controles remotos viejos de color blanco no funcionan para este procedimiento, hay que usar el nuevo control plateado de aluminio.

Paso 5

El programa Seas0nPass completara la restauración del dispositivo y se te confirmara en la venta del programa con el botón Done.

Paso 6

Listo, si todo ha salido bien, tu Apple TV 2 tendrá hecho el Jailbreak. Para confirmar que tienes Jailbreak, conecta el Apple TV a tu televisor…
