“With best/kind regards” vs “Best/Kind regards”

Closing an email with Regards, or Kind regards, is still very common in the UK, and not seen as old-fashioned there at all. Using the same in America may have a different reaction though; when I lived there before moving to Britain I thought it sounded old-fashioned as well.

As to why some Europeans add the “With” at the start, one could speculate it’s because they would do so in their own language. Dutch emails tend to close with “Met Vriendelijke Groeten”; German emails often use “Mit besten Grüßen” or “Mit freundlichen Empfehlungen”; Italian emails can have “Con i migliori auguri”. Perhaps it’s just carried over from that.

What is Hollyhill, why did Apple

Based on many similar posts here, if your purchase history does NOT show the purchase by you or people in your Family Sharing, it is a scam that has been around for 10 years. Scammers spoof Apple and their different locations—Cupertino is the most common but I’ve seen HollyHill and the Jakarta and Sydney corporate offices as well. Sometimes they use a phone number instead.

If Apple shows no record of the charge in your purchase history, they cannot help. Start with AMEX. When we had similar suspicious charges on AMEX, their personnel had the charges identified as bogus and confirmed my wife’s card number been compromised and issued her a new number, all in under 24 hours.

relative clauses

Your original is correct as-is, except you need to remove the question mark at the end because it’s not a question.

What I imagine you are already thinking:
The sentence ends with a string of “wh-” noun clauses. These clauses are not questions, so the last one should also not be a question. “Which one is the best” is obviously a question format, so it makes sense that “which one the best is” should be the correct form.

This is very good instinct, and you could even argue that the grammar is good, but at best it’s unnatural.

When we replace the superlative “the best” with the normal version, we get this:

*I am going to cover which one good is.

I hope we can both agree this sentence is wrong because “good” is an adjective, and cannot be the subject of “is”. The same is true when you put “the best” in that spot. It’s easy to argue that “the best” could be correct as the subject since superlatives are often used as nouns (as in “The best is this one” where “the best” stands for “the best one”), but when reworded into a noun clause, superlatives only feel like adjectives, so “which one the best is” doesn’t work.

Now, you might be thinking that “which one is the best” cannot be correct since it’s a question format. The answer is that like many other similar phrases, the question format and the noun clause format look the same:

Which hammers are on sale? (question format)
I’m hoping you can tell me which hammers are on sale. (non-question format)
*I’m hoping you can tell me which hammers on sale are. (bad grammar)

For a more thorough explanation of why the two formats look the same, see JavaLatte’s answer and note that “the best” is a complement.

Cellular Data and Internet not working

I recently encountered an issue with my iPhone where both Cellular Data and Internet access suddenly stopped working. After an extensive troubleshooting process, I found a solution that may help others dealing with the same problem. Below are detailed steps to resolve connectivity issues on your iPhone:

### Step-by-Step Guide to Troubleshoot iPhone Connectivity Issues:

1. **Open the Settings App**:

– Locate the **Settings** app on your home screen (it has a gear icon). Tap it to launch the settings menu.

2. **Find the VPN Settings**:

– At the top of the settings page, use the search bar to type **”VPN”** and press Enter. This will help you quickly locate the relevant settings.

3. **Access VPN & Device Management**:

– From the search results, select **VPN & Device Management**. This section is dedicated to managing all your VPN connections on the device.

4. **Review Active VPN Connections**:

– In the VPN & Device Management section, you’ll see a list of any active VPNs. Tap the small circle with an “i” (info) icon next to each VPN to view its specific details.

5. **Delete Active VPNs**:

– In the information section for each VPN, look for the option labeled **”Delete VPN.”** Select this option to remove any active VPNs. If you have multiple VPN configurations, ensure you repeat this process for each one. Deleting these should help restore your Cellular Data and Internet connection.

### Additional Troubleshooting Recommendations

If your Cellular Data or Internet access is still not functioning after removing any active VPNs, consider the following additional strategies:

– **Check Signal Strength**:

– Verify that you’re in an area with good cellular coverage, as weak signals can significantly affect your ability to connect to the Internet.

– **Airplane Mode Check**:

– Ensure that **Airplane Mode** is turned off. When activated, this feature disables all wireless communications. You can check this in Settings or by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen to access the Control Center.

– **Cellular Data Settings**:

– Go to **Settings > Cellular** and confirm that Cellular Data is enabled. Make sure the toggle for your specific data plan is switched on, as this setting can sometimes be inadvertently turned off.

– **Inspect Your SIM Card**:

– Remove and inspect your SIM card to ensure it’s properly inserted. A loose or damaged SIM card can cause service disruptions. If it looks dirty, gently clean it with a soft cloth before reinserting it.

– **Carrier Network Issues**:

– Sometimes the issue may lie with your carrier. Contact their customer service or visit their website to check for any reported network outages or maintenance activities in your area.

– **Verify Your Data Plan**:

– Double-check that your data plan is still valid and that you have sufficient data available. If you’ve exceeded your data limit, your connection might be suspended.

– **Look for Carrier Settings Updates**:

– Occasionally, updates from your carrier can improve connectivity. Go to **Settings > General > About** to check if a carrier settings update is available. If prompted, follow the instructions to install it.

– **Update Your Software**:

– Keeping your iPhone’s software up to date is crucial. Go to **Settings > General > Software Update** to check if you have the latest iOS version. If an update is available, download and install it.

– **Reset Network Settings**:

– If issues persist, consider resetting your network settings. Navigate to **Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings**. Note that this action will erase saved Wi-Fi networks, passwords, and VPN settings, so be prepared to set them up again afterward.

– **Restart Your iPhone**:

– A simple yet effective fix can be to restart your device. Press and hold the side button (and volume button for some models) until you see the slide to power off option. Once powered off, wait a few seconds, then turn your iPhone back on.

– **Perform a Hard Reset**:

– If all else fails, you may want to perform a hard reset. To do this:

– Quickly press and release the volume up button.

– Quickly press and release the volume down button.

– Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, then release it.

By following these detailed steps and suggestions, you should be able to effectively restore your iPhone’s Cellular Data and Internet functionality. If problems continue despite trying everything mentioned, consider seeking further assistance from Apple Support or visiting a certified technician.

Moses Lake Processing Facility

The Okanagan Specialty Fruits’ new 110,000-square-foot centralized facility is now open! The Moses Lake campus will receive, store, process, pack, and ship Arctic® apples.

Press play and we’ll give you a look at what’s inside…

January 9, 2023 Okanagan Specialty Fruits® (OSF), developers of innovative and delicious Arctic apples, is pleased to announce that its parent company Third Security LLC has acquired 42.5 acres of land for development in Moses Lake, WA. One of the parcels of land will include the construction of OSF’s centralized facility for receiving, storage, processing, packing, and shipping Arctic apple products. The project’s groundbreaking took place in September and is expected to be completed and operational in mid-2023.

“We have over 1,250 acres of Arctic apple trees currently planted in Washington State, and harvest yields are ramping up quickly as our orchards come into full bearing,” explains Neal Carter, President of OSF. “With our continued growth, it makes sense to have a facility closer to our orchards, so we can optimize efficiencies, quality, and minimize transportation. We can focus on ramping up our production capabilities and delivering superior quality product to our customers.”

The development will create approximately 60 local jobs for the community once the facility is up and running, with plans for hiring opportunities to be announced later.

“This is a large-scale project that will require the use of many local vendors and service providers to bring it to fruition,” says Don Westcott, OSF’s Senior VP. “As growers, we recognize the importance of strong roots. We look forward to establishing ours in the community of Moses Lake.”

The beta is limited to developers right now, but tvOS 26 will be available to public beta testers in the near future ahead of its fall launch.

Apple released iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, visionOS 26, and watchOS 26 yesterday, but tvOS 26 was held until today.
