Apple 自去年公布推出 Apple TV+ 之後，雖然影片量亦不及 Netflix 等對手，但不斷有獨家新美劇、電影上架，而且不少 iPhone 用家都早已有 Apple TV+ 的賬戶下，仍是不錯的線上串流睇劇選擇。最近 Sony Pictures 公布 Tom Hanks 湯漢斯新戲《雷霆戰艦：獵犬號 GreyHound》，因為疫情關係而未能如期5月上畫後，決定7月於Apple TV+獨家上映，各位果迷不要錯過！

因為新冠肺炎全球肆虐，原訂年初推出的電影大都延期上映，而這一套由Tom Hanks湯漢斯親自編劇及主演的電影《雷霆戰艦：獵犬號 GreyHound》亦不例外。不過早前Apple以約7000萬美金購入線上播放版權後，就正式公布《雷霆戰艦：獵犬號 GreyHound》即將於7月10日起，於全球100多個國家或地區的Apple TV+平台上獨家播放。

電影改編自C. S. Forester的小說《The Good Shepherd》，湯漢斯飾演二戰時期大西洋戰役中的一位資深海軍軍官，他首次擔任艦長便要肩負保護幾千名士兵37艘艦隊橫渡大西洋的任務，當中需要穿越變幻莫測的海域外，同時更需與納粹軍潛艇艦隊作戰。

「ザ・モーニングショー」キービジュアル

　映画、ドラマ、アニメなどさまざまなジャンルの動画を視聴できるビデオサブスクリプションサービス「Apple TV+」が日本時間の11月2日よりスタートする。コンテンツは全てオリジナル作品となり、2日の時点ではドラマ、アニメ、ドキュメンタリー、キッズ向け番組など8作品のタイトルが視聴できる。

　現時点（10月30日）で、2日より視聴可能な作品として明らかになっているのは以下の通り。

　「ザ・モーニングショー」は、リース・ウィザースプーンとジェニファー・アニストンが製作総指揮、出演を兼任する業界ドラマ。朝のニュース番組の裏側で渦巻く、エゴ、野心、権力闘争などが描かれる。「ディキンスン ～若き女性詩人の憂鬱～」は、映画『バンブルビー』などのヘイリー・スタインフェルドが19世紀の天才詩人として知られるエミリー・ディキンスンにふんするブラックコメディー。

　「See ～暗闇の世界～」「フォー・オール・マンカインド」はSFドラマ。ドラマ「ゲーム・オブ・スローンズ」のドロゴ役や映画『アクアマン』で知られるジェイソン・モモアが主演。「フォー・オール・マンカインド」は、「バトルスター・ギャラクティカ」「アウトランダー」などのロナルド・D・ムーアがクリエイターを務め、世界中に広がる宇宙開発戦争を描く。

　「ゾウの女王：偉大な母の物語」は、群れを率いて長旅に出かけたメスのボス象を追いかけたドキュメンタリー映画。『それでも夜は明ける』（2013）などのキウェテル・イジョフォーがナレーションを務めている。

　そのほかキッズ向けの番組もあり、「Helpsters ～お助けモンスターズ～」は「セサミストリート」の製作者が手がけたシリーズ。愛嬌たっぷりの個性豊かなモンスターたちがさまざまな問題解決に挑む。「スヌーピー　宇宙への道」は、宇宙飛行士になる夢を追いかけるスヌーピーが、チャーリー・ブラウンら仲間たちが国際宇宙ステーションに乗り込み、月世界を探検。「ゴーストライター」は、近所の本屋にいる不思議な幽霊に集められた4人の子どもたちが、力を合わせて本の中に登場する空想上のキャラクターを解放しようとするファンタジー。

「スヌーピー　宇宙への道」

Apple CEO Tim Cook is a man, “60 Minutes” correspondent John Dickerson said, who is “full of secrets.”

“I’m full of secrets and it’s hard not to overflow right now. But I’ve been trained well!” Cook laughed.

He will finally get to share those secrets tomorrow, when he kicks off Apple’s 31st annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC). It’s a gathering of programmers from around the world who create the content that fuels what Apple calculates is a half-trillion-dollar app-based economy.

“If you’re a consumer, you find out some of your most favorite software features are announced there,” Cook said. “If you’re a developer, you get some new technology that you can incorporate in your app and make your app even better. And if you’re somebody like me that sort of steps back and looks at it all, you see the intersection of technology and the liberal arts, and it really makes your heart sing.”

“So, are you among your people there when this happens?” Dickerson asked.

“Oh yes. Oh yes. I’m among everyone. If it were physical, I’d be right there with everybody else!”

But the conference will not be physical this year, for the same reason Dickerson and Cook are conducting their interview 2,500 miles apart, as a consequence of COVID-19. Apple will host a virtual conference, promising more than just a grainy workaround: they’re promising to innovate the form.

Apple’s iPhone, introduced in 2007, has transformed not just communication, but nearly every aspect of our lives. And the iPhone has helped make Apple one of the wealthiest companies in the world, with a market capitalization comparable to the gross domestic products of Australia, Spain, or even Saudi Arabia.

Dickerson said, “Apple has a market cap of about $1.4 trillion. What is the role of the CEO in a socially-responsible company that has that kind of size in the world?”

“You know, there was a time back many years ago where CEOs were just supposed to focus on profits only, and not so much the constituencies. And that’s never been my view. I’ve never subscribed to that,’ Cook replied.

Cook recently posted a statement on Apple’s home page addressing the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police — an incident that may very well have gone unnoticed if not for cellphone video.

Dickerson asked, “Do you ever reflect on the role the iPhone has played in being able to record moments like the nearly nine minutes that George Floyd had an officer’s knee on his neck?”

“We are humbled by it, we are humbled by it,” Cook said. “If you look back in time, some of the most dramatic societal changes have occurred because someone captured video. This is true about things that happened in Birmingham; it was true about things that happened in Selma.

“The thing that has changed, though, and we’re very proud of this, is that we put a camera in everybody’s pocket. And so, it becomes much tougher as a society, I believe, to convince…

The most important difference is that the AirPods Pro support active noise cancellation, which uses the microphones on each bud to filter outside sounds. Second, the AirPods Pro use gummy eartips, which create a more complete seal inside your ear to prevent noise from leaking in or out.

Apple includes three sizes of eartips in the box, so you should find a pair that fits. Previous generations of AirPods had hard outer shells that created a looser seal, and couldn’t accommodate as many ear sizes.

The AirPods Pro get five hours of battery, but recharge when they’re inside their case. Counting the power inside the case, you can get 24 hours of active use from AirPods Pro before the buds and case need to be plugged in. The AirPods Pro case supports wireless charging, which was introduced in with the second generation AirPods; the first-generation AirPods must be connect to power via a cable.

As I alluded to earlier, this is a historic moment we’re living in right now, characterized by news events that are upending life around the globe (the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement and protests serving as two recent examples). For both app-specific sections below, I should add, I’m going to encompass recent developments and updates associated with the app, as well as some of my own thoughts after spending a significant amount of time using each (the thoughts laid out in no particular order). Note: Apple News, of course, is only available to people who use Macs, iPhones, and iPads, while Flipboard is available to both iOS and Android users (in addition to offering a Web version).

According to 9to5Mac, Jailbroken AppleTV 2G owners can now enable a VNC server on their black boxes with a new Brandon Holland’s VNC server hack. This will allow you to control the device remotely using apps like Screens running on your PC or Mac.

 “Finished a quick and dirty VNC server plugin for the 2G that I call “Exposed”. It’s method for getting screen data isn’t great and lacks some effects and animation, but it does work without HDMI plugged in. Being part of a family whose members own multiple Apple products, moving away from the notorious walled garden is not only a difficult choice to make, but often times a costly one. So when a product from someone like Amazon makes it easy for me to venture out even a little, I take notice. And with some of the latest apps and improvements that are now available on Amazon’s Fire TV, I just may be upgrading my collection of Apple TVs around the house to Amazon’s Fire TVs, and here’s why.

Everything you’d expect from the Apple TV

AirPlay through Reflector – There are several different developers that make AirPlay apps for your desktop that will turn either your Mac or your PC into an AirPlay receiver. AirSquirrels is one such developer and Reflector is its app that does just that. Recently AirSquirrels came out with a version of Reflector that supports the Amazon Fire TV. When AirSquirrels’ Reflector app for the Fire TV is running, you can stream music and video from your iOS device directly to the Fire TV as if it were an Apple TV. You can even enable AirPlay Mirroring and use the Fire TV to transform your television set into a big screen display for your iOS device. This was a feature that until the end of last year was pretty much exclusive to the Apple TV.  The only downside, and depending on how you use your Apple TV this may be an minor inconvenience for you, is that the Reflector app must be running before the FireTV will show up on your AirPlay list of devices.

iOS Remote App for Fire TV – Showing continued support for the iOS platform, Amazon just recently released a native remote app for the Fire TV that mimics the functionality of Apple’s own iOS Remote app for the Apple TV. It complements the included remote that comes with the Fire TV by adding a virtual keyboard. This makes interacting with the various apps on the Fire TV much easier. One feature that Amazon’s remote has that Apples remote for the Apple TV does not is that it adds voice search capabilities to the Fire TV. While this feature is included with the remote that comes with box-shaped console version of the Fire TV, it is a feature that is lacking on the remote the comes with the tiny USB powered Fire TV Stick. Amazon’s iOS Remote app brings voice search to the Fire TV Stick without having to buy a replacement remote.

Home Share iTunes Music with Plex – If you have not yet uploaded your entire music library to Amazon’s Cloud Player, and you still have a sizable music library on your Mac or PC that you want to continue listening to on the Fire TV, then consider using Plex as a replacement to Apple TVs own Home Share feature. While this is a great way of instantly accessing your desktop’s iTunes Music library from the Fire TV, you may run into some problems when accessing your iTunes Video library. Plex does not have the ability…

Apple TV+ 這個由 Apple 自行製作電視、影片內容的頻道，在「It’s show time」發布會中正式公布，瞄準 Netflix 的目標客戶群。Apple TV+ 將會提供什麼自家作品？新的 Apple TV App 又有何新賣點，以下就為大家介紹一下。

Apple TV+ 這個 Apple 自家製作節目的新頻道，邀請了一大批荷里活頂級鉅星及最大牌的製作人參與，當中包括了 Steven Spielberg、J.J. Abrams、M. Night Shyamalan、 Sofia Coppola 及 Ron Howard 等荷里活金牌製片及編劇、導演，另外一線紅星更包括水行俠 Jason Momoa、美國隊長 Chris Evans、影后律政可人兒 Reese Witherspoon、《姊妹》的最佳女配角 Octavia Spencer 及Bratt Pitt 前女友《老友記》的 Jennifer Aniston 等，牌面上絕對令人印象深刻。

至於暫時已知的作品當中，包括由 Reese Witherspoon、 Jennifer Aniston 及諧星 Steve Carell 主演的《The Morning Show》，似乎是一齣以早晨清談節目為背景，關於兩性關係的作品。而由水行俠 Jason Momoa 及自殺特攻隊 Alfre Woodard 主演的《See》，是一個以大瘟疫之後，刧後餘生的人類大部分都已經失明的末世故事。由巴基斯坦裔美國演員 Kumail Nanjiani 主演的《Little America》 ，則會是一個探討不同族裔移民適應美國生活的故事。另外 JJ Abrams 及唱作人 Sara Bareilles 則會製作一個關於音樂人的故事。

另外，80 年代的奇幻電視片集《Amazing Stories 幻海魔蹤》相信將會由史匹堡親自負責重拍，其中一集講述一個二戰機師穿越來到現代的劇情，似乎頗為引人入勝。另外，兒童節目《芝麻街》的大鳥布特亦會跟新角色 Cody 一起到 TV+ 主持兒童節目，相信新頻道將會照顧不同年齡層觀眾的口味。

除了 Apple TV+ 之外，Apple 亦會在 5 月推出全新的 Apple TV app，讓用戶可以自選訂購不同的內容頻道，好像 HBO、ShowTime、Starz、Canal+、Charter Spectrum、DIRECTV NOW 及 PlayStation Vue 等。這個對香港人看似沒有什麼特別的功能，其實是針對美國當地不同城市的有線電視服務供應商而推出。在美國訂閱有線電視服務，用戶在選購頻道時，很大機會需要購買頻道組合，例如想看中文劇集頻道，就需要購買亞洲電視組合，被迫「食骨」。Apple TV 這個新功能，加上開放對 Samsung、Amazon Fire TV、LG、Roku、Sony、VIZIO 及自家的 macOS 支援，相信會對美國傳統有線電視供應商造成很大的打擊。

Apple TV+ 訂閱服務的價格及推出時間，將於今年秋季稍後公佈。
