Make sure you have set up a Samsung account. This can be done through the TV System Settings .

How to install apps on a Samsung Smart TV

1. If you have a Samsung account, click Apps on the menu bar. This will take you to the My Apps screen which shows all the pre-loaded apps, as well as access to apps in other categories, such as News, Most Popular, Videos, Lifestyle, and Entertainment.
2. If you see an app that is not in My apps but wants to add it, select the app icon. This will take you to the app installation page, which also provides information on what the app does, plus some example screenshots showing how the app works.
3. If you don’t see the app you want in the official categories tabs, you can see if it’s available in the Samsung Apps store using the search function. To search for an app, select the magnifying glass located in the upper right corner of any app menu screen.
4. Once you find the desired app, select Install.
5. After installing the app, you will be asked to open it. If you don’t want to open the app, simply leave the menu and open it later from My apps.

Use the browser

If you can’t find the application in the official market, you can always download it from the web, using the browser you installed by default on your Smart TV, for example, “download chrome apk”, then download and install the app as a normal application.

How to start a FaceTime call with Android or Windows users

The key here isn’t that the FaceTime app is coming to Android and Windows. It’s that you’ll be able to jump on a FaceTime call using a link, so long as the person scheduling or starting the call has an Apple device and an Apple account. If you’re an Apple user and have downloaded iOS 15, here’s how to get a FaceTime call started with people on Android or Windows devices. 

Create a FaceTime link on your iPhone to share with others on Android or Windows devices.

1. Open the FaceTime app on your phone. 

2. Tap Create Link. 

3. A screen will slide up from the bottom that says FaceTime Link. You can click Add Name to enter a name for your chat. 

4. On the same screen, you’ll see options to share the link through text, email, Twitter, calendar or other apps you have on your phone. Or, you can copy and paste the link yourself. 

5. To join the call yourself, tap the name of the chat you just created, and tap Join. 

6. When the Android or Windows user clicks the link, it will take them to a waiting room where you can allow them to join the call by tapping a check next to their name.

Director Todd Haynes still remembers the impact of hearing the debut album by the Velvet Underground for the first time more than four decades ago.

“It was a world that it brought you into,” Haynes says of 1967’s “The Velvet Underground & Nico.” “It felt like a very specific place that was like no other place that I’d been in.

“I wanted to inhabit that place,” he says. “I think it made me, as I think it’s true for other artists as well, feel inspired to make stuff. To do something creative in response.”

Haynes, whose career as a filmmaker includes such acclaimed dramas as “Carol” and “Far From Heaven,” has also made a handful of music-themed movies. “Velvet Goldmine” includes characters inspired by artists such as David Bowie, Iggy Pop and The Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed while “I’m Not There” is an unconventional biopic about Bob Dylan. Haynes also famously made “Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story,” a documentary-style film about the late singer that used Barbie dolls instead of actors; the film was pulled from circulation after the singer’s brother Richard Carpenter sued over unlicensed use of the group’s music.

With his new film, “The Velvet Underground,” which arrives on Apple TV+ on Oct. 15, Haynes takes a deep dive into that world that captured his imagination and inspired his creativity as a college student in 1980.

Apple’s new seventh Generation iPad

While Apple has just brought out its latest iPad, and used the much-awaited, high-profile September 10 iPhone event in which to do it, you can still readily get the previous models. Even if Apple isn’t selling them, you can pick up a sixth or even fifth generation iPad online, and that means you have choices.

This entry-level iPad has traditionally sat on its own, unlike the iPad Pro which always comes in a couple of different editions at a time. This iPad is Apple’s way of saying it’s simple, buy this one. And at $329, it’s as close to cheap as Apple will ever go.

Very often, though, it’s worth checking out the most recent previous editions because aren’t always that much different and, depending where and when you buy them, they can represent more of a bargain.

In this case, though, just take a look at precisely how the new seventh generation iPad compares to the fifth and sixth generation models.

If you search online, you’re likely to find a fifth or sixth generation iPad for less than the $329 that they or the seventh originally retailed at (the last-gen 2018 9.7-inch iPad is currently on sale for $249). Unusually, though, it’s also true that you will find extremely little difference between these three generations. There are differences that are significant, but really, working through all of these specifications meant wondering what was actually new about the new iPad.

What’s actually new

The answer, of course, is the screen size. That is the chief reason to buy a new iPad instead of an older model. Where the previous six generations of the iPad have had a 9.7-inch screen, the new one has a 10.2-inch display. Half an inch may not sound as if it should set the world alight, but try comparing the two and you’ll see the new one is enormously better.

And if you don’t think that, then try going back to the 9.7-inch screen. Size matters and 10.2-inches is a better size than the old 9.7-inch. That’s also because alongside the larger dimensions, the screen has a greater pixel count so that overall the image quality is as good as it was before, even though it’s spread out over a larger area.

That’s really it, though. You’ll see and, perhaps more importantly, feel a performance difference between the fifth and the seventh generation, too. That’s because the fifth runs on an Apple A9 processor whereas the seventh uses the A10 Fusion. Only,…
